Ilfracombe

A quick turn of the key , provided by the wardens and we are on the “Tarka trail”, this is the back door of the site and used as a dog walk for those that have a dog. We just use it as a quick route to start our walk to Ilfracombe, 4 miles from the campsite. The walk itself is without difficulty, unfortunately all tarmac broken at several intervals by Lee bridge ( nature reserve) Slade reservoirs and the tunnel near the end of the track.

Ilfracombe is a very pleasant place to spend a day, no beach to speak of just jagged rocks and cliffs. The Victorian tunnels beach was created to give men and women a seperate area for bathing. Very expensive now though.
